FIRST AID TRAINING COURSES

Our 3-Day First Aid at Work Training and Emergency First Aid at Work courses are valid for three years. After this period, you will need to complete a First Aid at Work Refresher course to maintain your qualification.

If you have completed a 3-Day First Aid at Work training course or Emergency First Aid at Work course, you will be certified as a qualified first aider for 3 years. Once the 3 years has passed, you will need to complete a First Aid at Work Refresher training course.

However, the HSE recommends that you complete a First Aid Annual Refresher training course every year to keep their skills up to date.

An accident can occur at any time, and by law, you must ensure that someone in the workplace is qualified to respond to a First Aid emergency. Beyond compliance, First Aid training is essential for maintaining a safe workplace and could make the difference between life and death in a crisis. Here are some reasons why first aid is important:

• First Aid can save lives - Employees who have received first aid training will be more confident and capable of responding quickly in the event of injury or illness in the workplace. Many lives have been saved as a result of the prompt and correct application of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and other essential First Aid techniques.
• A safer workplace - First Aid doesn’t just benefit those directly involved in an accident – it contributes to a safer workplace overall. Employees who understand basic first aid principles are more likely to recognise hazards and take preventative measures. If an accident does occur, employees may be able to protect the accident victim from further harm and potentially reduce the severity of injuries.
• It prevents minor incidents from escalating - In some cases, immediate first aid can prevent a minor injury from becoming a serious medical issue. Without prompt treatment, conditions such as bleeding, shock or breathing difficulties can worsen rapidly. With basic first aid knowledge, your staff can stabilise a patient until emergency medical help arrives.

Yes, some aspects of First Aid training can be completed online. If you are completing a course that requires a practical element, such as First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid, then these will need to be completed via our blended learning solutions.

Blended learning is an accepted means by which workplace first aid training can be delivered.
