Safeguarding of Children in Education Level 1

Anyone who works with or comes into contact with children or young people, no matter how frequently, should take this Safeguarding of Children Level 1 course as it is required to know how to safeguard children. This includes roles such as:

• teachers
• headteachers
• teaching assistants
• early years practitioners
• administrators
• reception staff
• safeguarding teams

Everyone who comes into contact with children and families is responsible for safeguarding them. However, the EYFS requires every school or college to have a practitioner designated to take the lead responsibility for safeguarding children. They are known as the Designated Safeguarding Lead and are your point of contact to discuss any concerns.

Safeguarding children in schools is important because it's critical to spot the warning signs of any abuse or harm and know how to report any concerns to keep children and young people safe.

With teachers being around children every day, they are more likely to spot any signs, whether physical or mental, and they can ensure children feel comfortable enough to come forward and speak to them if needed. This Safeguarding Children Level 1 in Education training will give them the skills and knowledge needed to help children and young people.
